Not really doing much in the way of weight training. Just do abs, curls, pushups and some shoulders at home. Also doing Atkins. My goal is to lose weight, plain and simple. I want to up my cardio to 35 minutes a day 6 days a week. I usually do the Elliptical and stair climber/stepper. My workouts are pretty intense, or at least I think they are. In 20 minutes on the stairs I usually do between 60-70 flights. On the Elliptical it says I'm burning about 300 calories in 25 minutes. I've lost 67lbs since mid January, want to drop maybe 100lbs total(started at 299). I'm not setting a specific goal, as my true goal is to get a .9 or less hip to waist ratio. Be that 215lbs or 170lbs I don't care.

Congrats on the loss.

35 min/day 6x a week should be fine. Some of the heavy lifters shun cardio but that's a mistake.

As above - you should be just fine doing it 6x a week.  Just listen to your body.  If it says rest - rest!

I've been mulling over your post and how to respond.  First congrats on your weight loss and as other have stated your body will tell you if it is to much.  I am assuming that your diet is fairly good as well, so the extra cardio will help burn calories and help you achieve your desired goals.

Which is where I get a little confused.  I don't understand weight loss solely for a lower number.  Hip to waist ratio are a generic way to apply a quantitative measure to the qualitative words fitness and health.  IMHO those words are not defined solely by ratios or amount of weight lost.  Don't get me wrong losing weight will drastically improve your health, but things like weight training will help long term with keeping the weight off.  

I am not trying to shit on your accomplishments or goals, just trying to understand how you prioritizing what is important.

I guess I should have added that while I do plan on adding weight training to my routine, I will do so once I reach a certain goal with my weight lose. Again, I do use weights at home, I do pushups, and I can already tell a big difference in how my arms and upper body look.
