A little background.
I always been into fitness but have hit a wall. Summer of 2009 I did P90x and lost some unwanted weight. By doing this it allowed me to take up running which I enjoy. I tried going back to gym last fall but I just didnt get into it. Any ideas. I would really like to stick to running and biking and stay away from weights. |

What is "hitting a wall"? Why no weight lifting? I just wasnt feeling the weights anymore. A couple nagging injuries in my elbow and shoulder and I didnt like it. I am actually considering the "300" workout a couple days a week, and running the other days. |

It's up to you to stay motivated. Run, bike, lift and MMA is all I do. Exactly this. There's times where exercising just really sucks, but stick with it. Are there any running or biking races coming up in your area? It would be a good idea to sign up for one so you have something to train for. |

The pool sounds like a good idea and I have one. I did some water exercises when my back was bothering me. I guess I can alternate running, swimming and biking for a change. You have one? If you mean a family backyard pool, I don't think you'll get much exercise in that. Check out your local HS pool or community pool for lap swimming times. |

How about kettlebells?
Yes I know they're weights, but it's a different workout. You're using a much lighter weight than you might be accustomed to with freeweights but it's the movement of the kettlebells that gets the blood pumping and the muscles burning. I like it because it's kind of a combination of strength training and cardio in one workout, plus the workouts are shorter in duration. When I started Krav Maga 3X a week about a year back I had to curtail my strength training (time constraints) and picked up kettlebells. I've found them to compliment my need for expolsive energy combined with strength training very well, and my sparring is better fot it. Kettlebells with some treadmill running mixed in is something I can definitely recommend. |
