Just wondering what the "rule of thumb" is for training abs? I've been doing mine every day, but a fellow lifter suggested a rest day inbetween.I'm getting good results, but wonder if I'm overworking them.

I dont do them at all.
It has been said (by people a lot smarter tham me) that heavy squats, deads, and rows work them enough. I hate ab work anyway so thats all it took for me to stop.

There's nothing wrong with working abs daily imho..

I guess it depends to what extent are you working them. I wouldn't try and kill them every day, treat them similiar to other muscles.

Depending on the rest of your routine, maybe twice a week. As stated above, most good lifts work your abs/core already.
What you eat will make up 90%+ of your results when it comes to the six pack.

Direct an work is overrated IMO. I rarely do it, but I squat, deadlift and ohs religiously. Every once in a while I do ghd situps or regular situps, but it isn't often.

As much squatting, DLs, OH BB lunges, etc I was doing during training, still had to do some core work for the rock solid 6 pack. Treat like other muscles, some harder days, some easier days, 3x week.
