I've used the casein protein from ON during my track competition time.  Good stuff, tastes great, mixes pretty well.  Idk about the other stuff.  Now I take ON Proplex protein.  Has fast and slow acting proteins, mixes well, and still tastes pretty good.

Chocolate was pretty nasty, IMO.  I use Metabolic Drive from t-nation.com for before bed shakes.

This.  GNC is overpriced. BB.com is a great place to shop as well as a decent resource.

Powders are convenient but I prefer whole food when I can. Fat free cottage cheese for me.

this.  the  ON chocolate casein is terrible.  the vanilla is pretty good.  I dont like doing the cottage cheese thing b/c its too high in fat & calories for my goals.  The ON casien is very low in fat/calories/carbs but high in protein.

How is fat free cottage cheese too high in fat?

The FF CC I use is 160 calories per cup with 30 g protein. Whey protein is usually about 120 calories per serving.

huh...  didnt realize they had fat free cottage cheese.  Is it cost effective though?  For example, 30g of casein is about $0.90 per serving if you get the 4 lb tub.  and dont have to worry about refrigeration, and can easily order in bulk.  And the cheese is definitely an acquired taste, though I think I'd prefer the cheese over the chocolate casein.

When it's not on sale it turns out to be $0.83 per serving for the CC. Of course this price will vary geographically. I hate the texture of CC so I blend it with water, ice and some natural peanut butter. I agree with powder being the most convenient. I just prefer to limit the amount of powder I supplement with in favor of actual food. Of course another alternative would be blending 1/2 cup of CC and half a scoop of casein powder.
