Curious what your favorite weight gainer or protein is.  I'm currently rebounding from a loss of 20lbs from pnuemonia and having a hard time getting it back.  Right now i'm using muscle milk and loving it, but its pretty damn expensive.

I like BSN True Mass a lot.  It blends well, tastes good, and has a lot of extra vitamins and mineral.  One serving is 3 scoops which is about 45 grams of protein in water.  I usually only mix 2 scoops in about 16 ounces of milk and that comes out to about 46 grams of protein.  Kind of expensive but, I think it's a little cheaper than muscle milk still.

As far as my favorite protein goes I would have to say All the whey protein.5lbs is like $29.Just make your own weight gainer. It will be much cheaper. Now when you say you lost 20lbs I'm sure that wasn't all muscle. So get on a high protein, moderate fat(healthy fats such as olive oil,red meat whole eggs, almonds, walnuts etc) and a moderate carb diet.Try to spread your meals out so your eating at least every 3 hours.Your weight will come back trust me.Just don't try and make it come back too quick or you will gain too much fat.If you haven't already invest in a blender. This way you can come up with all kinds weight gainer shakes.Use whole milk with protein. You could add chocalate syrup, honey, whipping cream, bannanas, ice cream or whatever excites your taste buds.I bought a coffee grinder from walmart and I will grind oatmeal up sometimes and put in my shakes. The instant cinammon bun is really good with vanilla protein powder.Anyway sorry for the long rant and I hope this helps a little.

True Mass is OK, although as you said its really expensive.  I personally don't care for the taste very much.

Try Up Your Mass, brownie flavored.  Best tasting weight gainer hands down.  A bit cheaper than BSN too.  I gained roughly 25 pounds using this and working out 5x a week in about a 5 month period.  I went from a skinny 170lbs at 6'4" to a lean 195lbs.

Pre-made weight gainers are no good IMO. Too much sugar and not a good macronutrient breakdown.

Take a simple (chocolate is what I like) whey powder:

Add in some plain oats, peanut butter, and maybe 1-2 TBSP of extra virgin olive oil.

You get tons of protein, healthy fats, and calories, but no sugar.

If you do a low/no-carb diet, simply take out the oats. I do a keto/cyclic carb diet, and my favorite shake is 1 scoop of the chocolate whey, 3 tbsp PB, 2 tbsp EVOO.
