[Taken from the notice earlier when the upgrade took place.] Essentially the site will limit the total number of users on the site. The way it works is that a threshold will be established (1000 users) which will help determine the maximum number of guests allowed on the forums at a time. - Anyone with an account can log into the site and use the forums - Each time a member logs in, one slot from the 1000 total will be removed for guest access. - When the limit of guests has been met, no new guests can use the forums until a slot opens up. - If the limit is reached, the system will continue to allow members to log in and remove guest slots. (Guests logged in at that time will NOT be kicked off.) - If for some reason the number of members reaches the threshold, the system will NOT prevent further members from logging in, and essentially will overfill. The goal of this addition to the code is to allow us a means of quickly limiting the total number of guests in order to keep the site operating in an acceptable manner. (ie keep the site from slowing down to a crawl!) |
