Anyone use the 6.8 for a long range gun?  I'm looking to go our to about 600 yards and would like to use this gun when I start hunting again.  (No I won't be trying to take deer at 600 yards.)  Also, what brand of barrel is good on a budget.  I've been looking at Wilson Combat.

Look into ARPerformance (ARP) they are the best you can buy and reasonablely priced. Lots of good info on the round at the 68 forums as well

the 6.8 is a great caliber but if you want to shoot an AR (at long range) in a different caliber other than 5.56 perhaps you should look into the Grendel round.  I have 6.8 Grendel and 7.62x39 along of course with 5.56 so I am not bias in any way.

I don't know anything about ARPerformance, and they do get rave reviews on here.
I have tried to buy from them ,but they where sold out often. (that tells me their product MUST be very good!)
However, I do have some experience with Wilson Combat barrels.
I have built a 6.8 SPC using Wilson Combat barrels and mine was exceptionally accurate!
1 MOA is my experience.
I have also built a rifle and a pistol in 7.62x40 from WC, and they where also 1 MOA or less.
Needless to say, I have been very happy with the WC barrels and recommend them highly.

I also have a Wilson Combat 6.8 SPC barrel and mine is exceptionally accurate too. I am very impressed with Wilson's quality and accuracy.
