Vortex has updated their Razor line of spotters. Japanese glass assembled here in the US.
http://www.vortexoptics.com/category/razor_hd_spotting_scopes Some differences explained by Reuben on a Facebook post: "The new 22-48 and 27-60 are a wide angle optical design, so they give you the same field of view spec at their low end (22 or 27) as the existing Razor had at their low end (16 or 20). This wide angle optical design makes it easy to find your target quickly, all while not sacrificing the zoom level needed to see those important details. Secondly, the helical focus ring is easy to adjust quickly for changing distances, but doesn't sacrifice the ability to fine tune your focus when needed. These are the main differences, but the body designs are different than the existing Razor too. Finally, the new Razor HDs feature glass and components made in Japan, and are fully assembled right here in the USA. -RJ ([email protected])" Price?: "Retail on the 27-60x85 is $1600, Retail on the 22-48x65 is $1200 and retail on the little 11-33x50 is $700 - Hope this helps! - Jimmy H [email protected]" |
| I'm curious to see if the glass performs better than the "old" version. I see a lot of mirage when you zoom in and adjusting focus doesn't help. Plus the FOV starts to feel as if you're looking through a straw when you zoom in, compared to other spotting scopes. Really hope the new scopes are better as I need a spotting scope. |
