I want to mount a scope with a 56 mm bell on a Remington 700 with a 26" bull barrel.

Recommendations greatly appreciated.

I'm looking to get out about 700 yards with a 308 so I don't think I'll need a 20 base but I'm a babe in the woods other than reading about it in here.

I'm not looking to win Camp Perry, just some good solid stuff that won't move around all the time.

You may want to get the 20moa rail, anyways.  It will optimize the scope for shooting at the further distances where optical clarity will be most appreciated.

Thank you kind sir.

I assume Seekins will suffice for the rings?

As I understand it, a 1 piece mount base is preferable? That would seem to make sense.

And it is in the junk stock it came in for now but I'm thinking seriously on the Magpul. It doesn't seem too expensive and I don't want to sink a whole lot in this gun.

If I like the long range thing, I'll probably get something in 6.5 to get on out there with.

Seekins will be quite sufficient for the hardware.  One-piece bases are generally preferred.  Mount any base with care, checking for misalignment of the screw holes.

I put a factory takeoff VLS stock on my AAC-SD, and it improved performance significantly.  The Magpul, Boyds, or Stocky's would be good choices that don't cost too much.
