I'm going to be purchasing a remington 700 AAC-SD in 308 soon. I will be putting on a vortex viper pst 6-24x50 FFP scope. I'm lost on what scope base and rings would be suitable. I'm assuming a 20 moa base is the way to go. Not sure of ring height either. Anyone who has something similar to this let me know what rings and bases you went with. I don't want to cheap out but don't want to break the bank by spending $120 for a base and $160 for some rings. Thanks!

I have used Leupold an NF bases, mine were around $100, the NF is nicer machine work and finishing.
I have a couple TPS ring sets, they are well made and can be had for $50-90. With your setup assum ing 30mm tube, the lowest rings available should work with the 700 sps. |

Same rifle, in the middle of build also.
For base I choose the LaRue Short Action 20MOA $83 shipped. And rings are Burris MEDIUM HEIGHT XTREME TACTICAL 6 Screw (34mm scope) Got the rings free with their current promotion. Bought a 201043 Burris XTR II 4*20*50 One thing to be careful on, my rifle was new, but the very little screws Remington screws in to protect the threads, a few of them were cross threaded. So I ended up have to tap the holes. Not good Remington! |

Seekins Precision rings and bases are excellent and won;t break the bank. For ring height for that scope the .87" height will work. I have the same scope and only went with .92" height to match my other scopes but there is room to drop some and this is with barrels that are of heavier contour than the factory Remington.

Same gun as you I went with the 4x16 pst. Rail is larue 20 moa base and their ultra low rings I have enough to put buttler caps on and enough room for recoil but not much more

Mine sports ultra low TPS rings on a LaRue 20 MOA base. My 700VSF sports the same set up, but with low rings.

I'm getting ready to mount a PA 4-16x44 on the same rifle with an EGW 20 MOA base. I'm going to try the vortex medium rings.
