| So i just ordered my first 308. It will mainly be used for hunting & punching holes. Range will mostly be from 100-300 out to 600.I hope to one day try a 1000 yards. But will probably by a better scope first. Ive been looking at the redfield 3x9 revolution tacmoa, the redfield battlezone 6x18 with tac moa. Ive also been looking at the swfa 10x . ( concerned about close range shots with the ten power in the woods.) I would like some feed back on any of these scopes especially the swfa 10x .This will end up on ar platform. |
| I've been running this scope for two years. Weaver Tactical 3-10x40. It's been fun to use. I had it on a Rem 700 AAC, now it on my SPR AR15. I'm making good use of the scope from close to 600yards. I do a lot of hunting with it on the SPR AR15. The Super Sniper 10 is a great scope. I had one and sold it wish I still had it as well. |
|
I had a Vortex Viper on the last .308 I had. It was second focal plane, which made it much less expensive than the first focal plane version. The scope had a very crisp, clear, bright image edge to edge. It surprised me how good it was for a scope under $500.00. |
| Personally I wouldn't go the primary arms route. I bought one of their 4-16 power scopes with the illuminated reticle for my mossberg mvp 7.62 and it will not zero. I'm constantly chasing it trying to zero it. I was using a lead sled to sight it in so it wasn't me. I will say that scope was nice and clear even at full magnification. But I don't think it liked the recoil of the .308. Just my .02 you know what they say buy once cry once. |

Primary Arms. This. The PA 4-14x44 is a good entry level mil-rad turret, mil-rad reticle first focal plane scope. It's a good first scope at $229. If you want rock solid and nearly indestructible, the SWFA SS 10x42 rear focus for $299 is supposed to be VERY good. The only limitation on the SS 10x42 is that it's a fixed 10 power so if you need to shoot closer, your field of view is a little limited. Still a great scope for long range though. |

I've had great service from them and they replaced my first PA 4-14 FFP due to a mushy elevation turret no problem. He shipped me the new scope and had me return the mushy one in the box with a return label. I'm happy. :) |

Interesting indeed. Best of luck. |

Quoted: Quoted: Another veto for the Weaver 3x10 scope. Do you mean vote? I'll cast another vote for the weaver. Loved it. I really want to trade out my vortex 6.5-20x for the weaver 3-10x but I shoot out to 700 here and there and like the magnification. I vote Weaver 3-10 a well since that is all I need to make hits on man size target out to 600. If I wanted more magnification then the PA is gtg as well.

I use an old Springfield ART IV 3-9x on 8" plates at 500yd all the time, but there's not much target peeking around the crosshair

Quoted: Hate to admit it but I'm still using the BSA 4-14 FFP MIL/MIL scope on my AR. Not sure how it would do with larger calibers but its held up surprising well on .223. Still holds zero and dial true. Have another on my Savage 22. It gets a lot of turret cranking on that. I regularly shoot out to 300+ with the Savage and I try to dial elevation instead of holding. No pics on my AR http://i41.tinypic.com/2immr.jpg I've had the same scope on my FV-SR for a year now. Most of that year it has been in a soft case and usually in the car, and usually not in the same place in the trunk that I left it. It has never lost zero, and it tracked well at 25 yards when I shot a 4 by 4 box. Was going to go bigger but light was running out and I got lost/confused.

After a long search, and getting tired of waiting for a sale, I just picked up the Primary Arms 4-14x44 on the EE. I hope it's all everyone is saying it is. I'm putting it on a .308 AR I just completed. You will enjoy it. Definitely one of the better scopes out there on a budget! |

I have a Rem 700 AAC that's been sitting around unfired for like six months now. I put a 20MOA base on her quick and did a Timney trigger swap after the recall but I've been hemming & hawing on optics. I figured fuck it, slap this on and start shooting it. I can always upgrade |

Vortex HS-T 4-16 or 6-24.
Same Glass as PST line, Same Ret, But not numbered, and not Illuminated. Very good price, between $650-$500. SFP and you can get them in MRAD and MOA. 21 Mrad of ELV, or. 75 MOA. 1/4 moa or .01 mrad adj. Firm positive adjustments, Gives you a zero stop, Nice eye relief. Adjustable parallax. I have used one on my LMT MWS. great out to 800 yards, and was very happy with it. The Vortex no questions asked warranty is great. Several of my Farmer friends have them on their "TRUCK GUNS" or "COMBINE GUNS" They take a ton of abuse and not a problem one. Hope this helps. |

Especially the ACSS HUD. I've had both mil dot scopes and the ACSS HUD will be here Thursday. OP : The Primary Arms 4-14x44 FFP mil dot scope was featured on the Military Arms Channel's 1000 yards for $1000. They seemed to love the scope and it did well at 1000 yards. I've personally had it out to 500 yards and it was great. |
