| Smoke Composites make a very lightweight fixed stock, but they're $pendy. |
| The Lancer/Sig carbon stock is just 9.4oz in A1 length, A2 shouldn't be much more as it's just an inch more of carbon fiber, and the cheek weld is very comfortable, much wider than other lightweight stocks, especially tube+ stocks like the Ace. If you need some rise there is ample room to put a pad on there. |

It is a great option.  Once you place it into your parts bin, arfcom fertility will make it grow into a M16 A2 clone build.  I have seen it happen. ![]() |

I went with a Magpul MOE rifle stock.
The Superlative Arms piston system shown in the photo has functioned 100% with factory Hornady and Fiocchi 40gr VMax .204 Ruger ammo so far. No problems whatever. Quoted: Too bad the A2 isn't an option. Best fixed AR stock made IMO. It is a great option. Once you place it into your parts bin, arfcom fertility will make it grow into a M16 A2 clone build. Vic An A2 stock doesn't make it a battle rifle and it's probably the best varmint rifle stock you could use, especially shooting prone. It didn't just fall out of the sky...it was designed for the AR platform and designed very well. But I get that it's not cool.... |

I certainly agree that an A2 stock in itself doesn't make it a battle rifle. A buddy has one on a RRA Predator Pursuit and it serves very well in the field. However, this rifle will spend a lot of its life ammo testing off the benchrest. IMO there are better stocks than the A2 for combination field and bench use. Of course YMMV. The A2 stock can be modified for better bench performance, but then you have as much or more invested than something like the MOE. PLUS when you get right down to it I just don't like the looks of the A2. Shot the first groups with the new lower today. Wasn't too happy with the results. Five shot groups with Hornady 40 gr VMax factory ammo opened up to about an inch at 100 yds. compared to about 3/4 " with the old lower. The new lower has a Geissele Match Rifle 2-stage trigger set at something less than a pound on the second stage where the old lower has a Hyperfire single stage trigger set at about 2 pounds. All my other precision rifles have single stage triggers (some set as low as 6 ounces). Don't know if I will be able to get used to a two stage trigger or not. My cheek weld with the MOE stock is not as firm as the PRS so that needs some attention also. Vic |

I have a Luth-AR.
Pros: - It's light - Adjustable length of pull - Cheap (I got mine for $100-110 on sale) Cons: - Has lots of knobs and grooves for mud, dirt, or water to get into. - The cheek adjustment isn't really fully adjustable. You either have it just off the rifle stock ~5mm, or else you have it way above the stock. At least this is true with mine. I think maybe you could have it in the middle, but the cheekpiece would be constantly stressed by part of the stock that covers the buffer tube. |

Im thinking about getting one of these for the same application. Looks like it'll settle on a bag well and is light and cheap. Anybody have one?

I hate my ace stocks when shooting from the bench. My vote is for the A2 hook or the luth-AR. Or if you really want an ace get the JP model with the monopod.
The A2 hook just fits a rear bag really well and gives me plenty of room for cheat sheets to be taped to it. Yea I know we have smart phones with shooter or Strelok. I have not played with the Luth-AR yet it does look like it would grab everything if you did have to go through brush. I wish ace would change their design just enough to have a place you could get a rear bag kinda like the A2 hook. Because when at the bench. When I get it sandbaged level I have to reach around my mountain of sandbags. |

A2 stock with a rear bag rider from EGW works great. It does hose you out of the rear sling loop though.

Is that an op-rod/external piston system on a .204 Ruger with RLGS? If so, good luck getting it to run. You're going to need it. The furniture is the least if your worries. I was wondering (and thinking) the same thing. after LRRPF52 speaks. no homo. Bastage should have his own ARFCOM channel. OP, go ACS MagPul. |
