| I got an AA barrel and bolt coming to build a 6.5g. From what i understand I will need 6.5-specific mags. Are they all pretty much g2g or is there a specific mag I should be buying? |

Good looking rifles LRRP...It seems like all the 6.5mags are steel. Are any of them made of Aluminum that you know of? Does anybody sell 6.5 followers that I can put into my existing mags? Everything is steel. The mag bodies are totally different with 6.5 Grendel, with reduced depth guide grooves and specific feed lip geometry. Mags are only $12-$13 from 44mag.com |

I got my mags from midway. They are AR Stoner mags, but have ASC followers in them.
I haven't had a problem with them feeding, but the little parts on the top of the mag in front of the feed lips was scratching the hell out of my brass. I took my dremel and removed almost all of that little lip and now have no more scratches. |

I've been using them all with success since 2009. AA CProducts (old) Cproducts (new) ASC Elander Keep in mind that the straight-bodied mags that are advertised as 15rd or 17rd were never meant to be produced, as AA asked for a curved mag for anything over 10rds. Instead of ceasing production on them, both CProducts and later ASC cranked them out by the pallet. They will work fine with 7-10rds, but some people encounter FTFeed when trying to load them to capacity, which was already known before they existed by AA, hence the spec for curved mags for anything over 10rds. For precision shooting, the 10rd mags are nice, as are the 17rd Elanders from AA. I actually still use the straight bodied CProducts mags regularly as well, just with 10 rounds in them, although after blending and polishing my feed ramps, I haven't had any FTFeed with those mags when loaded to 15 rds. Dang, well that somewhat answers my troubleshooting from the other thread. I've been using ACS straight mags. |

I finally got my ASC mags and what a disappointment I ordered 3 25rd mags and none of them work, 2 of them are very tight in the mag well and won't drop free. But all 3 jam constantly, it looks like the front isn't notched enough and the rounds are getting stuck. http://<a href=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/Nemsis1/Mobile%20Uploads/EF1F6002-30AF-4BD3-9593-15572E6A658F_zpszov7x9ns.jpg</a>" /> My buddies Elander mags work perfect and are notched much more http://<a href=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/Nemsis1/Mobile%20Uploads/EAEE728D-203A-4E8A-A249-E6DA245DD784_zpsizndrf67.jpg</a>" /> Maybe ill cancel my order since mine still have not shipped

I just ordered some 25rd elanders from Alexander arms they have them in stock I bought the 17 round ELander magazines but have not tried them yet. Magazine issues are the number one reason 6.8 SPC and 6.5 Grendel have been less than a rewarding experience. 100% reliability is my standard, both of these rounds failed. I have modified magazines, bent feed lips and consulted a Voo Doo princess with mixed results. |

I bought a 24 round ASC mag on sale from Brownell's a couple years ago. I got around to using it this week and had a failure to feed. Upon examination it was obvious the non ejection port side feed lip was much lower than the other side. I used my Leatherman to fix the lip. I still encountered a failure to feed so the next day I took the mag apart. The ASC mags ship with a gummy perservative or other substance on the inside of the mag body. I had neglected to clean the inside of the mag body. I cleaned the inside of the mag body and reassembled the mag. The mag then loaded and unloaded more easily. I made sure the feed lips were adjusted properly and loaed the mag to capacity. I let the mag set loaded several hours then went shooting to test the mag.
The mag functioned properly until I obviously had an under powered round. The case barely cleared the ejection port. The next round failed to feed. I retracted the bolt and the round fed and fired. I was shooting PPU 120 grain BT HP. I hate to report that this lot of ammo is not very consistent. The ejected brass was flung in all different directions and distances. I had bought this PPU ammo on sale from PSA for $10 a box but I'll never use it for any serious duty. I have a total of five ASC 24 round mags and this is the only one to cause malfunctions but I had cleaned and inspected the other mags before use. In the future I'm buying E-Lander 6.5 Grendel mags. The E-Lander mags are more expensive but seem to be of higher quality. I loaded my E-Landers and let them set loaded. Now that the mag springs have taken set the E-Landers are the smoothest mags I used in the 6.5 Grendel. I've only bought 10 and 17 round E-Landers but I intend on buying a few of the 24 rounders. |
