I am thinking of getting into some shooting on the AR platform. I already have a complete Bushmaster A2 20" target model, post-ban. Due to the fact is doesn't have a removable carry handle I am thinking just switching out the complete upper with another with flat top so I can attach a scope.
I was at the Tulsa gun show over the weekend and saw literally hundreds of complete uppers and was more confused than when I started looking!!!! WOW!! Talk about a variety of uppers!! What I am thinking I am wanting would be at least a 20" heavy floated barrel, brake/comp, no sights. Something I could just drop onto my complete bushmaster lower. I already have the scope/rings, bi pod, etc. Gonna shoot 100-500 yards max. Is there an upper similar to this already out there or am I going to need to build an upper??? |

If you're positive about wanting a 20+ inch barrel, heavy contour and all, I would suggest taking a look at Rock River Arms. They have a couple models that would drop your onto your lower and assuming no freak defects, would easily allow you to shoot moa or smaller.
I owned one of their 24" Varmint heavy profile barrels and it was a beast. heaviest thing I've had the pleasure of shooting on an AR. But it was extremely accurate. |
