| Does anybody know if there is an American Ammunition Manufacturer that sells their version or a traditional version of a 7.62x54R load in the above format. I'm interested in buying a Dragunov, NOT a PSL or a Chinese copy. An actual SVD Tiger/Original. And after researching the Firearms System I came to find that it works best with 7N1 or 7N14 ammunition loads. |
| I'm pretty sure that only Prvi Partizan, or Tulammo makes it in those standard weights. All the American manufacturers are usually around 180 and on up. I'm no expert considering I only use mine in an old mosin but the whole point of having that cartridge was for shooting really cheap ammo which means surplus. As for getting an actual dragunov I think you're money would be better spent on other guns but that's just my opinion. Good Luck and happy shooting! |

7N1 used a 152 gr bullet with a steel penetrator, while 7N14 is the current round that has a 151 gr bullet with a lead core and is supposed to be more accurate.
Neither is available as the Russians have never exported their sniper rounds. The Yugo 182 gr ammo is reported to be quite accurate and a Dragunov will shoot it just fine. FPK/PSL shooters however need to stay with light ball in the 150 grain range. |
