I just bought a 16 inch barrel ptr 91 and I know ill be limited by velocity but on average what accuracy can I expect 2 moa?

Rack grade PTR91, 4 MOA maybe...  not exactly a precision rig

Out of the 16" or the 18" I have not been able to get 2-3 MOA with factory match grade ammo. Not going to bother developing loads for it as that is not why I own these.

Glad that I came across this thread.  I have a Cetme that shoots pretty decently and was thinking of a PTR-91 as I figured it had to be more accurate.  I guess I will spend that money elsewhere.

My PTR91 group from today. Ammo is steel case brown bear. Kahled 1-6x scope used on an HK claw mount

The PTR 91 F apparently has a match grade 18 inch medium weight barrel. I wanted one years ago and contacted them about it because I am a reloader and wanted to know if
the barrel had the chamber flutes still as they market it as their basic match grade rifle. Spoiler: it does. They said with a good shooter and match grade ammo like FGMM the
PTR 91 F can shoot 1 moa groups.

4 shot group? Is this result repeatable?

The biggest detriment for accuracy on the platform is the trigger. A standard G3 platform trigger is awful. I have cleaned a few up and the customers have reported substantial gains in accuracy compared to the factory trigger.

I sent the trigger on my Cetme, a similar rifle, to Williams Trigger Specialties and it is now around 3.5-4 pounds I believe.  Stock it had to be over 10 pounds so it made a noticeable difference.

I owned a cetme and like others have said around 4 inches at 100 yards. Shot my friends ptr and had similar results. I liked the way it looked, but that's about it. Ran very dirty no matter what ammo I was using. My buddies ptr was the same. If I had to have another semi 30 cal I'd go fal. I don't see that happening though .

Dang, I guess I got lucky as my Cetme is around 1.5" at 100 yards with ammo it likes which happens to be German surplus ball.  My problem is the gun is too heavy for anything other than shooting from the bench.
