Ok, so now that I finally have a nice scope on the way (Bushnell Elite Tac 3-12), I need a mount.  Now, I don't want to spend a ton of money, but it has to be a solid mount.  QD is not required.  Recommendations?

Unless you want a mount with added moa just get a set of quality rings (Seekins, Badger, ect)

I had a set of Seekins rings. Really liked them. Very well made.

I really like the looks and idea behind the Aero lightweight mounts, but they are never in stock.

Are they strong/sturdy?

Nightforce or Badger Ordnance would be my pick. The AAD mount is supposed to be very nice too but I havent used one. QD mounts do nothing for me on precicion rifles.

For a lower cost, what are your thoughts on the Vortex 1 pc cantilever or the Leupold Mk2 IMS?

Oh, and another question.  Is an offeset mount recommended?  I've had plenty of scoped bolt guns, but never a scoped AR.

Never used that one. For one thats a little less JP makes a one piece scope mount thats very robust, lightweight, and well machined. I use one on my SPR.

Yes. They put the scope farther forward to get you the eye relief you need.

The AADMOUNT is by far the nicest AR mount I have ever used. Rock solid. Very well machined.  As stated already,  the JP mounts are pretty good for less money. Not as beefy as the AADMOUNT but worked fine on my coyote rig.

Unless you're setting up an AR10, the earlier post about just using some good rings is bad advice. Rings mounted on an AR15 receiver won't let you get the scope far enough forward for proper eye relief.  There's a reason why every purpose-built AR15 mount includes some forward offset.

I really like a JP mount on my 308 PR, solid made and not bulky.

I believe you can get any LaRue mount without QD.

I picked up the LT745, it comes in 0 moa, 10 moa and 20 moa flavors.  Dropping QD for VFZ will save you ~$40.

I went with the JP.  Haven't mounted it yet though
