Has anyone done it? Since the CMP auctioned that one, I've wanted to copy it ever since. Here's an article if you don't know what it is: http://stevereicherttraining.com/darpa-xm3/

I can't get an exact copy. I won't need the the an pvs22 that is issued with it, nor can I get a suppressor. I basically just want the same barrel, length, buttstock, nightforce, etc.

Look in the "clone" thread, research some smiths, and post pics.

You can get an exact copy.

the XM3 was built by a 3rd party.

Not by the Marines, and not like Remington with the M24 marked M700 receivers.

Take a look at my clone thread.

IBA made the XM3, which you can order from them.

Your going to spend around $9000 for an exact copy less optics and suppressor.

Alternatively, Remington's custom shop will also build you a clone off their 40X receivers, which may, or may not be cheaper (rifle price alone)

Or you can gather the parts yourself and have one built by a good gunsmith for probably half what IBA is raping people for.

It is cool that IBA sells them, but I think that I could make a pretty decent clone of the XM3 for a lot less than they are asking. Granted some parts won't be the same, like I probably won't bother having the receiver slotted as there is no use for this on a scoped rifle.

You would also save money on quality steel parts vs titanium parts.

Really the only thing from IBA to make a correct looking clone is their night vision rail.

Also, good luck finding the Surefire flash hider. They're hard to find. Some sites say they have them in stock, but I have never heard of said sites.

You could use the Griffin Armament flash hider.

I've shot a issued one suppressed and Un suppressed.  I would trade my m40a3 clone for one.

The XM3 was a big hit with almost all the guys.
but they didn't care for the Nighforce scope. Most ended up swapping the Nightforce scope for the S&B scope

That's what I've heard about the xm3. I always thought nightforce was one of the best rifle scopes out there. S&b's are awesome though

To be honest, everyone was used to the S&B and the Mil-dot.

I don't remember the specs on the Nightforce. I remember guys saying they didn't like the reticle. I can't recall if it was mil/mil or mil/moa
