Both are local Armslist
This one at $625 https://www.armslist.com/posts/7031490/fayetteville-arkansas-rifles-for-sale--savage-model-10-fcp-sr--suppressor-ready--tactical--308win Or this one.... https://www.armslist.com/posts/6946750/fayetteville-arkansas-rifles-for-sale--remington-sps-tactical I've been online and from what I can tell, the opinions are split and in most cases, come down to price and/or some features that the Savage has over the Remington. In this case, the features are similar. The Savage has a box magazine and in this situation, also has a bipod and scope ready to go for $100 more. That seems to be the Pros for the Savage. The Pros for the Remington are longer barrel and picatinny rail. I know the barrel is free floated, not sure on the Savage. Just saw this too; it looks cool but I'm not sure it's in the same league as the Savage and Remington. https://www.armslist.com/posts/6618897/fayetteville-arkansas-rifles-for-sale--used-mossberg-mvp-lc-in-fde This will be a hunting/shtf gun as a backup to my Scar 17; likely stashed a buddy's place where I do most of my hunting anyway. I hear the Nikon Monarch scopes are good but will likely switch to a Trijicon in the next few months. So, any help appreciated! Thanks, John |

Short barreled precision bolt action rifles are the strangest thing I've ever seen. To OP, I would go with the savage for the extra features. Plus the only bolt guns I own are both savage rifles and they have been excellent. |

The Hogue stock on the Remington is garbage so plan on replacing it. Between the bunch would get the Savage. Is $675 your max? If not then add another to the mix and look at the Bergara HMR. Yes a little more money but a very good rifle. I would take it over any of the others.

Really happy with the Tikka TSR I just picked up for for a steal. Tikka CTR in a McRee G10 stock.

Some more Tikka motivation......

If it is between those two only, that's easy: the Savage.
As Rob stated, you would definitely need to replace the Hogue stock on the Rem. Also, the XMark Pro trigger is beyond garbage. Once you adjust the accu-trigger down in squeeze weight, it is much more bearable than the XMark. If you can save a few more bucks, I'd consider as others have suggested, the Ruger PR, Tikka or Bergara would be great choices. |

He's got no reason to handload for it. |

Pot of Gold
Hard to believe. A buddy bought his sniper gray from wholesale hunter in AL for 1099.99 less than a week ago. They took down the GBadd but if you call they may match it. You can always seach completed GB auctions. |

Congrats. Heck of a price for that gun. That stock runs 700 by itself. You'll also find that Tikka's have the smoothest factory action of any rifle at its price point.
Supposedly there were only 50 of the FDE models imported. Also, the FDE one I got came with duel cheek slabs (rest). The original TSR in the recoil magazine only had one, to buy a second was an additional 130 bucks from McRee. If you haven't already check out the recoil magazine article. I picked up my new (used) scope and now need rings. Not sure on what height yet but I'll get there. Attached File |

I totally understand I've got an AR-10 for sale to fund this and I'm selling the scope that was on it.
I picked up a Gen 1 Bushnell DMR with G2 retical. I had the Bushnell LRS (prob a 6 year old scope) it's actually still on the elite line, but wanted a little better glass. Honestly you can't go wrong with just about anything out there right now, leaps and bounds better than 10-15 years ago. |

And we have a winner......thanks a bunch for the lead. Just did the deal on a FDE version, couldn't be happier. Will advise once I get some glass and get some range time. Might throw a 3-9 on it just to get it out! Edit: got the TSR |
