This is just a shot in the dark, because I dont know if correct swivels are available or not, but you may want to contact Retro Arms Works, it's owned by a member here, and he specializes in Vietnam era items. |

I purchased a Remington 700 Police Special in the mid-1980's that was virtually identical to the M40 straight from the factory. I used a Redfield scope mount and a Leupold VX-III 3.5x10 scope to build my version of a clone. I had the receiver milled for a stripper clip, drilled and tapped for iron sights and an aluminum pillar bedding job. The trigger is set at 2.5 pounds. It has the same stock as the one pictured by the OP.
I'm thinking about sending it in to get threaded for a flash hider/muzzle break. Kind of a M40 meets the 21st Century look. This rifle shoots 1 MOA off a bench and is a classic in every way. |

This is my favorite. Although I do like an A1 too. And an 03A4. Would love to see it when it's done. And progress. Or whatever. Keep us updated. Talked to the seller and the gun coating is done and was waiting to be re-assembled I did buy a Timney trigger for it ...ill put the stock trigger up for sale along with the HS stock to recoup some of my money other than that the gun is ready |

Took her to the range today and I must say she is a keeper
once I zero'd it I was shooting some great groups id say with the right load this is a 1/2 MOA rifle at 100 now I have yet to take her out far but I'm sure she will do just fine Note I swapped the Redfield 3-9x40 out for a Leopold Mark AR 6-18-40 mil\mil Initial 100 yard zero and adjustment using 168 grain Federal gold medal match (not sure why I wrote remington ...must be tired) First range outting with my M40 replica by John Hermesmeyer, on Flickr
A quick group one was not great but the rest (not shown) were MOA First range outting with my M40 replica by John Hermesmeyer, on Flickr
Now these are my hand loads Just followed the recommendation from my reloading book as far as case length and OAL goes with different power weights powder used was IRM 4064 and Hornady BTHP 168 grn. First range outting with my M40 replica by John Hermesmeyer, on Flickr

Thats 3 shots!!! Well this is very positive and I'm sure one the barrel settles in this should be a consistent 3/4 to 1/2 gun |

It's a real deal M40 in a museum. I think it was Chuck Mawhinney's rifle. Used in Vietnam. |
