A friend just bought one.  He I s a serious long range bolt guy with $4000 scopes and custom builds his own guns (machine shop on property).  He has several 1/4moa set up and hand loads...not reloads.

He bought the 338 savage stealth and a RPR in 6.5 creedmoore.  The RUger is 1/4 to 1/2 moa to 200 yards with his feeding.  He cant get the Savage below 2 moa consistently.

He wants to know what people typically get the 338 Savage chassis accuracy to, what to do to it, or should he just sell it?

I do not have one, but there are several video reviews of them on LookAtMeTube that shows them performing very well.

ETA - I would remove the action from the chassis and re-mount the action to the chassis as per Drake's directions.  They do have a torque sequence outlined for the process.  You might have a Friday afternoon rifle that the gorilla in the Savage factory just slapped together so they could get out to drink a beer.

Every screw on my .308 Stealth was loose from the factory. That would be a good place to start.

Every single screw on my 6.5CM stealth's rail was loose (one of the four was just ever so slightly getting a bite...which was apparently enough to allow the rifle to shoot ~OK).  Didn't notice it until I went to change the factory rail out for a 20MOA version.  My action screws were both tight though (about 35in-lb).  In another thread I mentioned this issue and someone else said theirs had the same problem.  I'd have your friend check his if I were you.  That would be an easy place to start.

So where do I find this torque sequence and spec?

I'd just call Drake.  It comes in the manual when you buy their chassis.  But you got the chassis as part of the rifle from savage so...

Have the Stealth in 300 win mag and it's a tack driver. No problems whats so ever. One of the best bone stock factory guns I've seen. For $1100 bucks it's a heck of a deal.
