Hi all,
I just traded into a Remmy 700 ADL Varmint in 308 win.

Going to be my first Rem 700 build, I had a Savage 110 308 about ten years ago. I have not shot precision rifle in a while.
Looking forward to it.
I need to get glass and mounts, then a stock.

Looking forward to getting back in to it. I'd forgotten just how addictive and expensive it can be.....just setting up a rifle

I bought a used 700P in 308 a few months back and a friend reworked it for me before I ever shot it.  Cut the barrel to 18 inches,,,PTG bottom metal...Timney trigger...and a whole lot more.  The rifle shoots like a dream and now I am hooked on bolt guns...This is my first "real" bolt gun and I even took it pig hunting with me in Texas and got my first ever pig with it.  Love the rifle and I am now working up a pet load for it.

P.S.  I have lots to learn !!!!

Which isn't really necessary IMO unless your goal is the smallest groups possible or shooting over 1,000. Lots of out of the box options that will shoot MOA with good loads without extra work . With your rifle and good glass you should be at or close to MOA as is.

Even with the factory stock? It doesn't feel as bad as some, but it doesn't feel all that good either.

There are some things you can do to improve the factory stock if you're on a budget. But yes it is possible to shoot fairly accurately wit it.

I'll see how it shoots, but will be watching for a stock in the classifieds. Just ordered a bag/shooting mat.
