I'm getting a Surgeon DBM for a Rem 700 in .223.

What are the most reliable mags for this setup?

Maybe Accurate Mag? Link

You can still find the AI polymer magazines around too it seems.

Probably the accurate, you may need to file part of the insert.  I run my 223 loads about 2.45" and those mags are shorter than that out of the box.

The MDT ones are OK, but not great.

I'd put an ar dbm on the 700 if it was me just for compatability and ease of finding quality mags.

Yeah that doesn't work.  700 doesn't use double feed mags and it would be silly to limit yourself to that oal.  You can squeeze quite a bit of performance out of a 223 seated longer.

MDT are the only ones I've tried but I'm ver happy with them.  They also let me load the 75g Amax past 2.50

I have a friend with the Magpul setup and the MDT mag.  It has been 100% so far.

Same here. They feed reliably in my Manners Mini Chassis.

Another MDT mag user with no issues running .204. I have a polymer AI mag that is pure junk, if the mag is on a level surface the

rounds are angled up like a scud missle launcher.

Well I can't say I have tried one . Now I am going to have to order one of the ar bm to try.

you have to mill the receiver out to make it work, and then you really need to bed the stock as well.  The cons vastly out weigh the pros.

I bought a dozen AI mags several years ago.  They feed 223 AI and 300 Whisper excellent.  I have heard some people complain of feeding issues with the AI mags.  I don't even know if AI makes them anymore.

I have seen several local guys have good luck with Accurate mags.

I am not sure what the most reliable 223 mag is as I am currently in the same boat. What I do know is that the AI mags were discontinued since they were outsourced and he quality control was not to their standard. The AI mags have a tendency to separate at the seems if they are loaded in excess of 10 rounds. It puts too much stress on the plastic weld. I have seen some reports of feed lip issues.

With that said, I just bought 3 of them to feed my new addiction. I will beat them up and hope they last. Rumor has it that AI is working on a metal 223 mag. Lets hope it come to fruition.

I decided to stay with the factory hinged floor plate until something I really like comes along.  My 260 is going to get a Badger DBM and AICS mags.
