Just saw this announced.  Almost 3500 fps.

Evidently it's a re-re-release  I guess there isn't much to see after all.

Interesting

Had a 6.5x300 Winchester Short Mag probably about the same performance.  Super accurate death laser.  Kiss your barrel good bye though after 400 rounds if you load it to its potential.   I put 300 rounds through mine before I noticed my groups were slowly opening up.   I still have mine but plan on pulling the barrel and moving to some other caliber when I can dream up a project.

Back in the 80's the .264 Win mag got a bad rep for burning out barrels, and declined in popularity.

When I saw the first 6.5-300 Weatherby ad I shook my head that what goes around comes around.

The 6.5x284 (I have one) competitive 1000 yd.shooters really hot-rod it and it's gotten a similar rap also. I don't do that on mine and it still shoots like a laser.

All that being said if you want a 6.5-300 Weatherby go for it but be aware of an expected short-barrel life and expensive ammo.

Interesting Caliber!

Getting the 300 Wby Brass to begin reloading will be a costly proposition.

I just stay away from anything Weatherby. I don't like spending $60 to $80 for a box of factory ammo.

26 nosler, 6.5-300 weatherby, 264 Winchester magnum all eat barrels. When the Winchester came out my Dad bought one.  His was a pre 64 model 70 with a 26 " stainless steel barrel. The thing was a Death Laser on deer. It had a reputation for shooting out barrels at around the 500 rd mark. Since he only shot about 8 rounds a year max it wasn't an issue for him.  Before deer season he would go out to the range and fire 3 shots to check his zero and if it was good he went hunting.

Yeah, I was given a Wby MkV in 300 wby mag. I love the rifle but hate buying ammo.

That's crazy... that's 50bmg or even entering 338LM territory.  I would definitely take either of those rounds over anything weatherby.

Weather by is only $60-80 for the cheap calibers.  .460 is something like $150/box.

I was grabbing a few more boxes 6.5 Creedmoor and noticed a box of Weatherby. I couldn't believe someone would pay that for factory ammo. You'd have to reload, or only shoot just before and during hunt season.

I like to shoot 60-80 per bolt gun on range days. I'll take two or three guns and cycle them to let the barrels cool through the day. Taking three Weatherbys and shooting four boxes each at $80 a box plus tax would cost over $1,000 for one range trip!

It's out of stock at the moment, but 6.5-300 is $95 a box.

Some can afford it. I am not in that club. BTW, only 70 of those 240 rounds of $80.00 a box ammo hit paper, and it wasn't the gun's fault.
Lots of people shoot, drive, golf, reproduce, for fun. Doesn't matter if they are any good at it or not.

I miss. Sometimes. But the target is usually between 600 and 1k before I start to miss. And my ammo is waaay cheaper than $80 a box. So I don't feel so bad.

Dang. After tax, it's $5.00 a round. And you're barrel is gone in 500 rounds. What's a barrel for a Weatherby cost? If the barrel is $500 plus install, you're burning $6.50 each round.
