I have owned several Savage rifles, but this is the first one I built. Well, really it's just a barrel change, and making it custom with parts. It was the easiest firearm I have built. Started with a Sacage model 10fxp, in 243 Winchester. Got it from Gunbroker for a good price. Picked up a Wheeler barrel nut, and action wrench, and went to work. Ordered a Shilen 26" chrome-moly barrel chambered in 260 Remington, with 1:8 twist.

Performed MY trigger job on the Accutrigger, and it is now smooth as silk!

Put the barrelled action in an MDT TAC21 chassis.

This is me. Hard to tell, but my left arm/hand is completely paralyzed. Accident disabled me 2 years ago, but it hast stopped me from building firearms. Started with a 1911 build, and knew from then, I could build ANYTHING. but this was super easy!

Forgot, it's topped with an SWFA SS 16x 42 in an American Defense Recon 30 scope mount.

Savage are great because you can DIY for most items.  I just don't get how swapping out parts makes it a "custom" rifle, but that's just me.  If that's the case, almost every firearm I own is a "custom."

Well, please enlighten us on what IS custom, Sunshine. Honestly. What is it with negative people & their negative statements? Do you want to compare building skill? I'll win, trust me! What ever happened to "if you have nothing nice to say, DON'T SAY ANYTHING!"

BTW: "custom"
(Made specially for individual customers. IE., "custom shoes")

This is one of the dffinitions.

Thanks. Ummm, "HEAVY" lbs.! Lol! Honestly, I have not put it on a scale. But it's a chunk a rifle I'll tell ya. Deff. not a light weight by any stretch of the word. I wasn't thinking light when I decided on it. The AR is still my favorite rifle. Unfortunately, when my left arm/hand was paralyzed in the accident, I was no longer able to effectively operate the AR-15. Now can I still shoot one? Of course! But it's awkward. So I switched to bolt action, and the AR15 has passed to my son.

I suppose it's only us light weight guys that keep a fish scale by our safe.

I want to rebarrel my .308, but it is doing it's job for now.

Hahha! Yeah I'm with you there. No point swapping JUST because! I was in a position to "pick my poison", so to speak. I had been studying 260 for almost 1.5 years. And I use LC 7.62 NATO brass. A lot of work, but I can turn out some nice brass, and it's SO cheap! Got over 1000 for around $100.

That's the chassis, I'm wondering who makes the butt stock, I don't see it on MDT web site.

You really should've gone with a longer barrel

Awesome job.  I had a Savage 10 in an XLR chassis many moons ago.  Thing was a laser.

Did you use any Flitz or JB polish on your trigger or just hit it with a Dremel?

I am a .260 fanatic.  I will argue that the 6.5's render a vast majority of other calibers moot.

I am so jealous right now. I am doing my own savage 10 build right now, although it has been slow because of moving and other annoying life things. That looks like awesome though.
