What’s the rifle designation & barrel specs on the tan chassis with the M8541? Was this concept ever fielded or just submitted? Very curious, amazing collection!

That rifle is my M40A6 clone.  The mount on this gun is a prototype Badger Ordnance scope mount that was submitted for testing, but the Larue QD mount won the contract.  The A6 is the current issue USMC sniper rifle, yes, they are fielded.

M40A3 clone is just amazing to shoot

Best group so far at 100m:

300m:

500m:

This is a 8,9cm group at 500m, 3.5 inches. First time shooting at that distance and I was freezing my ass off.

Absolutely love this gun!

Some more...

100m range is boooooring... But I was testing my first handloads, so it's ok.

One of the better groups, I called the one high. The black dots are 3/4".

Coming weekend I'm gonna try some steel at up to 1000m...

So Im curious, anyone gotten anything or heard anything from Alan Brown lately?  Last I heard, he said to check his FB page to see what he has finished. I checked and the last thing he completed was like January.  Last thing I want to do is count someone out but....anybody got anything?

Did you talk to him on the phone or via email? I ask because like the poster above I have emailed him about building a MK13 and have gotten dick as a response...

I called him over the phone, that is the best way to get a hold of him.

I talked to Alan Brown today, he's still swamped with rifle builds, lead time is 12+ months right now. He's building rifles all day, so he really doesn't have time to take phone calls, so the best way to reach him is by sending him a message through his Facebook page - https://m.facebook.com/AJbrownarms/ or via email - [email protected]

Since he has parts for almost 50 builds in his shop right now, he's also going to change his system for accepting new builds. Previously, you'd gather all of your parts, ship them to him, you'd be put on a waiting list, you'd discuss the build specs right before building, then he'd build your rifle.  The new system will be gathering your parts, DON'T send him the parts, have your name put on a waiting list, 2 months prior to your build you'll ship your parts to him and discuss the build specs, he builds your rifle.

This will reduce clutter in his shop and allow you to keep an eye on your parts (a lot of people worry about having thousands of dollars worth of parts tucked away in the back of a gunsmith's shop for over a year). If you have parts with him right now, none of this info will effect your build, you're still in line to have your rifle(s) built.  This new process will only go into effect with new new builds.  I'm not sure if he's started this new process, so if he hasn't started this new process yet, it will start soon.

I'll keep checking this thread if anyone has any questions about Alan's builds.

Also, a shameless plug for myself, I still have original Mk13 Mod 0 stocks (with certificate of authenticity) available if you need one for a build. Shoot me an email or IM and we can discuss options.

Alan has had my stuff since Oct of last year and no word yet on status.  I was worried he died...so that is an update of sorts...not a good one but any update is an update.

In other news, my M40A5 came in. This is the profile sitting on the floor at the gun shop.

In my tripod for customers to look at...like eight people wanted to know how much.

This is the correct markings for the barrel.  This would show that it was built by PWS and was proofed.

And this is a pic of the Tenebrex anti reflective device, which for me works like a sun shade but without the length.

Today I had the day off so I went to the range to see how the M40A5 did.  Well it was a chase to get it zeroed...with 10-25 mph wind and the target bouncing around on the stand.  I was able to get it settled down and zeroed about two inches high at 100, which should give me a zero of dead-on at 200.  This is a pic of one of the groups while moving the scope to zero....I was amazed to say the least.

After messing around at 100, I engaged the targets further out..these are steel gongs at rough distance of 325, 415, and 725.  The gongs are 12x12 steel, or 18x24, and then at 725 there is also a six foot buffalo for the old black powder shooters.  I was shooting at the 12x12's and had first round hits at 725.  I wrangled out 4/5 on the 725.

Anyone interested in trading their 0moa MIRS rail for one of my 20moa rails? The M24 cant get a 100yd zero with a 20moa MIRS or MARS rail. Its the RevB with the window cutout for the serial number on the receiver and marked M24 on the underside.

I forgot to include 3 other sets, all of these "kits" are original USMC M40 parts ~1966. Mark Williams (Raven Rifles) is working on 3 receivers for me right now, I still need to find 5 more donor rifles in the correct serial number range to complete these builds.  Mark is an expert on building everything in the M40 series and has spend a ridiculous amount of time researching these rifles.  If you plan on doing any type of M40 clone build, he's your man!

A few 40X bases with rings (M40), 40X and 700SA welded mounts (M40a1 transitional), and Unertl mounts (M40A1)

Also, as a matter of interest, not all 40X bases have squared corners, some had rounded corners like the later 700SA bases (and some 700SA bases had squared corners):

Did some more shooting with my M40A3 clone today at 300 meters.

38mm (1,5in) center to center on a five shot group, this thing is just too damn fun to shoot.
it's also fun to see how my first attempts at handloading work out, i'll probably try out some 175 grain SMKs for longer ranges. this was with 168 grain SMKs.

Just found something amazing with one of my Mk13 Mod 0 stocks!  The provenance of this stock is astonishing and unquestionable, it was there in Tal Afar during an extremely important event in Iraq's modern history! Please take the time to read the link below, it's a pretty amazing story!

https://www.worldhistory.biz/sundries/14929-tall-afar-voting-booths-an-ottoman-castle-and-a-syrian-sniper-saw-iii.html

It's difficult to see in this pic, but the stock on the Mk13 Mod 0 is the exact same as the stock in my collection!  I'll try to find a better pic later.

More then likely.  Not set up here to rebarrel sniper rifles.  Mk13's would go back to Crane, SR25/Mk11/M110s all go back to KAC, etc.
