One of my guys bought this rifle LINK last year and I helped him get it set up with an XLR Element chassis and Vortex PST. He took it through a school last week and put between 500-600 rounds through it. He waited until I got back to work this week so I could walk him through how I clean my bolt guns and we went through it today. I've been using Wipeout foaming bore cleaner (with the accelerator) for years and its outperformed every other cleaning product I've used and it usually has thick blue goo pouring out of a well fouled barrel but not this time. We gave it three separate treatments today allowing it to soak for 1-2 hours each time and I only got the faintest amount of blue on a couple of patches.
I've never seen a barrel which held less copper than this one. My Schneider barrel has been outstanding but I do get a decent amount of copper out of it when I clean it. I don't know much about this rifle but its got me curious, with the price tag if Remington isn't lapping these barrels. It has 5R rifling which I suspect is helpful in this regard but I was still very surprised. |
