I think the Savage LRP is going to be the one but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a different model number or brand for that matter. I'm going to shoot the Hornady 140's since I don't have time to reload. I have a Leupold Vari-X III 6.5-20X40 AO that I need to send in and see if I can get some different turrets put in and maybe a different reticle. I would like the RPR but I'm not paying 1400 for one on GB because no one else has them. Shooting out to 800-1000 yards but probably more in the 800 range. This will be my first long range shooter. I have lots of other guns but I've never dropped the coin on a long range so I don't want to miss the boat on something. Thanks for the help.

What's your budget? Savage is about to release the stealth rifles. 6.5cm, 308 for around 1200 bucks, 300wm and 338 for around 1500. If you go to drake associates website, who is helping with the build, some of those higher priced rifle specs will be coming on the stealth. Have been looking for a RPR too but now will wait for the stealth rifles to see how well they are built. About the same price. Just another option for you to check out. Have read Tika are sweet rifles too. Good luck.

The LRP in 6.5CM would be a great  rig; you probably won't get much more accuracy out of any factory rifle. The great thing about it is in a few years you can easily rebarrel it at home without a smith etc.

I have that exact same scope on my hunting rig, and I think you'd be fine just replacing with M1 turrets; the duplex reticle should be just fine for your first rig. Make sure you get a 20MOA base; if it's the 1" tube like mine, it may not have enough adjustment.

At 800-1000 yards you'll be doing yourself a disservice by not handloading, but you can get by on factory while you're just learning the ropes.

My scope is a 1 inch tube. Thanks for the 20 MOA base advice. I like Savage. A lot of people knock them but they shoot and they do it on a budget.

Cabelas is listing a Savage 10T in 6.5CM now. Not in stock yet so should be in soon. My 308 10T is a tack driver. Will bet the 6.5CM is just a good or better. $599.99.

I do t know what putting a new reticle in and new turrets on a Leoupold costs, but my gut says you would be better off buying a new scope and selling your other one.
