So I am in the market for a new stock/chassis for my Savage. I've been eyeing up al ot of the chassis that utilize AR style stocks. Don't really like my AR style stocks out there since most of them offer no cheek height adjustments, except the Magpul PRS, but it is heavy and bulky. KRG's 180 Chassis is nice, but definitely spendy. I have their W3C coming this week for my R700, so if I really like it I might consider the 180.

I have also been eyeing up the Ruger Precision Rifle and looked closer at the stock to see how it functioned and noticed that Ruger are using what looks like a standard Carbine buffer tube. Can anyone verify that information? Any idea if Ruger intends to release the stock as a stand alone system for those who want to upgrade their ARs? Personally, I would love to add one to my LR308. Would be a huge upgrade over the UBR I am currently using.

Correct on the carbine tube. I really like this stock's adjustment, especially the cheekpiece, you can flip it around to accommodate standard AR charging handle operation. But the can't isn't much, if that matters. Right now Ruger isn't selling the stocks alone, there's too much demand for the rifles.

I would like to switch out for a PRS but my eye relief/LOP is close and the cheek piece doesn't come forward enough. The RPR stock is hair fine though.

They pop up for sale every now and then on the ruger precision rifle Facebook page or Snipershide.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for one, Thanks.

I have been shying away from the Savage Chassis systems since most of them use proprietary stocks that look heavy and bulky. So the RPR seems like a good fit. Same issue with my LR308. The UBR is heavy and personally would like more adjustability out of it.

**Found someone willing to dump their stock on Snipers hide! So I will do a mock up on my LR308 to see how she fits.

XLR offers stocks that are similar.

Absolutely.  OP really needs to check into XLR Industries stocks.  The cheek rest is adjustable up 'n down and forward and back.  I chose the Element for my left handed FLCP-K a couple years ago, sold off the accustock and haven't looked back.  The ergo's on the Element are very comfortable and suit me better than the accustock, as well.

Got rid of mine, couldn't deal with it.  I'm sure others will put them up for sale on the EE soon.

I plan on putting mine up for sale once I find a replacement I like.
I do like the PRS, it's comfortable and offers what I need but it's pretty damned ugly.

The XLR is too close to the RPR stock for me to consider that for a replacement.

I put one on my Troy and just love it. Adding my Law Gen 3 Folder tonight too, and my Dolos Takedown System with TJ YHM 12.5 HG.

I have the 'big 3'

- RPR stock
- PRS
- LuthAR carbine version

The PRS feels the most solid/well built, but it also very heavy and more expensive. After buying the LuthAR... I bought a second RPR stock for my LR65 build.

I am with you too, I have all three as well. They all have there purpose. But for a adjustable stock for a AR15. You just cant beat the Precision Ruger stock, with all of its functions. Plus the ease of changing them as well. People need to post more pictures. I know I sure am not alone on this ideal. Take care everyone.

How do you like the Luth stocks? I am contemplating getting one for the RPR. Would you say the Luth stocks are more like a middle ground of the RPR and PRS stocks?

I ended up finding an RPR stock and put it on the AR and did not like it.

I love the LuthAR adjustable carbine stock over the rifle model for my preference.  I don't need anymore adjustment than what it offers.  I have my Savage 6.5CM mounted in an MDT-LSS chassis with the LuthAR buttstock.  One recommendation I'd make is to use a commercial extension tube instead of a milspec tube.  While LuthAR states their buttstock will fit both, the commercial tube definitely provides a more solid lockup on the buttstock to extension tube for precision shooting.

If anyone is looking for the oem RPR stock, I replaced mine with a PRS Gen3. My RPR stock is available for sale if you want it - just send me an IM. It's brand new - I replaced it before I ever took the rifle to the range.

Ditched the factory stock on my RPR and installed XLR. Similar look but XLR is nicer, more adjustment, and much smoother to adjust
