It's been a while since I posted, but wanted to share that I just bought a run of the mill Thompson Center Venture in .308 last week. My local sporting goods store had it on sale, and with the $75 rebate they were offering until the end of the year I ended up getting it with considerably less than $400 in it.
I am not seeing a lot about this rifle online, so I am assuming that their sales have not been stellar. I have seen where some have shot real good groups with them, and anything else with 5R rifling seems to be considerably higher in price. (I understand the benefits of 5R rifling are being debated)

Anyway, I did a search but did not find any info on it, and was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them? I understand that it is probably not going to be a 1000 yard tack driver out of the box, but was just curious if anyone else had any trigger time on one.
I plan on taking it to the range near the end of the week and seeing how it shoots. Will try to provide an update then.

TC is one of the few 5R rifling licensees.  That is why, in significant part, that it was acquired by Smith and Wesson a few years ago.  TC barrels have a fine reputation for accuracy.  My bet is that you will be very pleased.

My son has a Venture in .308 and really likes it.  150 grain Hornady spires and Varget powder produce boring repetitive. .75 inch groups at 100m but it also likes factory Remington corelocks.  My only gripe would be the snap together plastic magazine.  It's 100% reliable but some metal in the magazine would inspire more confidence in longevity.  Cold and snow don't bother the Venture at all.  Nice, solid performing rifle.
