No search function?????????? Am I missing something? Is there another good long range forum that is member-rich that I don't know about? Thanks! |

The biggest thing that I hate is that they didn't move any old threads over so any Google search result that you click on takes you to the new site and doesn't work.
Some of the time you can copy the link shortcut and replace ".com" with ".info" but not always. Also, the fact that you can't subscribe to threads or get e-mails when you get a new IM is infuriating. |
| I was on SH as much as ar15 but ever since they moved I cant stand the new SH. old posts are just GONE! cant see what posts are new. As a forum, it sucks. I hope it gets better but I wont be back there any time soon. I hope this new precision forum here brings some SH members over. Lots of great people/info over there. |

I have been trying to reserve judgement in the hopes that something much better would happen, but so far no such luck!
Why you would take that huge of a knowledge base, shelve it, and then expect your membership to find, copy, and paste all of the best material over to the new site? I am all for improvements and moving forward, but what exists there now is far from an improvement, and I can't see how it is somehow going to miraculously get better? I spent about 70% of my time there, and 30% of my time here, but that is probably going to be the exact opposite now. I can appreciate everything that Frank has done for the Long Range Community over the years, but I think he lost sight of what would really be the best option to improve SH. For those who may not know, the old SH site still exists as a read only: http://forum.snipershide.info/ The search function there still works. Sad day there IMHO, but for every door that closes, another will open, thankfully the door has opened here, we just need to throw it wide open and take advantage of it! Let the posting here begin! | I just said screw it . I dont feel like the hassle of joining the scout network I could care less about premium football soccer and what ever else they are trying to sell . I wish frank well in his endeavor but I think their is a huge hole below the water line . |

Give it some time. It's being worked and will get better. Rome wasn't built in a day. 
The Hide has been around almost 15 years and isn't going anywhere or been sold. It's a forum change. There was one a couple years back and people were screaming but it worked out. Give Frank some time and credit. |

Give Frank some time and credit. The difference between now and then though is that when it has moved in the past the forum contents moved with it. Also, basic functionality such as IM e-mail notifications, subscriptions w/ e-mail notifications, a non-POS edit window, etc. actually existed. To me it is just painful to post now over there and without the previous content and with all of the broken Google links from searches (except those that are cached or that work when you change them to .info from .com) it makes things a giant pain to find useful information. The search wasn't really helpful in the old forum so even using the .info site isn't all that helpful. The single biggest issue was not migrating the old post and that is inexcusable to me from a software developer's standpoint. I can't even fathom telling a customer "Sorry, you have to start from scratch." and having them say "Okay." in my business. The content is what made the forum and telling people they have to try and search a totally different website for old content just isn't going to work for many that aren't even remotely tech savvy. |
