u cant get any lower with the rings, just grab a stock pack, and shim under it with foam camp matt pieces to get your hight.. till u get the A5, then it wont matter the A5, it dont "need" bedding, but wont hurt.. use AI box magazines... depends, when ordering see if included or not 175 match, yes, 180/200 hunting yes. 200 match, not vary well |

I run heavy bullets in my 700 SPS 20" 12 twist. I can get good groups with 185 and 210gr bullets but they are not 100% stable so this means you will lose some ballistic coefficient.
Here are the numbers I am getting with my handloads on the heavier. Shorter bullets than I list will stabilize better. @sea level 59 degrees(actual BCs are calculated) 185 Berger OTM(1.345" @2580fps) possible BC @100% stable= .283 G7, actual BC I get with the 12 twist= .274G7 3% loss SG=1.37 210 Berger LRBT(1.450" @2500fps) possible BC @100% stable= .320 G7, actual BC I get with the 12 twist= .296G7 8% loss SG=1.25 These below were not stable enough in the 12 twist to group at all. I got them for my new 10 twist bbl --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 230 Berger OTM(1.600" @2340fps) possible BC @100% stable= .368 G7, actual BC I get with the 12 twist= .314G7 15% loss SG=1.01 230 Berger HYB MCH(1.680" @2340fps) possible BC @100% stable= .380 G7, actual BC I get with the 12 twist= .309G7 19% loss SG=.874

Just curious popnfresh, why are you shooting such heavy bullets w/ a 308? Txl Look at the BCs of the heavies compared to the 155-178s, best G7 in that range is .259. I like to experiment. The 230OTM with my MV is supersonic to 1270 yds(in the10 twist bbl I have waiting) The 175SMK with my MV is supersonic to only 970 yards I also have a 90gr SMK load for my 18" ar that is supersonic to 1010 yards.
