Local metal shop offered up a pretty good deal on 1/4" AR400.

Anyone have any experience with this material at 700-1000 yds? Nothing closer. Mostly 308 family cartridges, although I can't rule out it getting tagged with a 7 or 300 mag.

You should be OK at that distance.

I recently acquired some AR400 that is 1/2" thick. At 50 yards, 5.56 using 69gr Nosler bullets, dimpled it pretty good. However at distances in excess of 150 yards, there was no dimpling or deformation. I only shot it with 5.56 so I can assume, the heavier calibers will mark it pretty good at closer distances.

Buy a plate and experiment with it.

Not what you asked for, but my 575 yard target is a 12"x12"x1" piece of AR400. I've smacked it with .308 (M80 and 168gr-208gr pills), 5.56, 5.45, and 6.5 Grendel. At that range it's held up great. From 700 to 1k you shouldn't have any problems with it at all, I'd say jump on it if you can get it for a good deal.
