BLUF:  Archery newb finds bow for $500 ($650 w/ sights, etc).

I know a little about archery, but not much--I did some basic archery years ago and recently started thinking about it again.

My intended uses would be:  primarily target shooting and possibly hunting and/or bowfishing.  I would like to be able to share it with other people (I understand there's a size/strength factor).

I was originally looking at the Mission Craze due to adjustability, etc.  I was told the Craze is good, but that a lot of guys who enjoy archery quickly move on to better bows.

I guess what I'm looking for is the bow equivalent of a Colt 6920 / DD M4 / Bravo Company:  something versatile and appropriate for a beginner (and hopefully later an intermediate), but neither so low-end that I won't enjoy it or it won't last or won't be able to use it for whatever I want; nor so high-end or specialized that it's more than I need or will want or can use for a while.  I know I'll enjoy archery, but I don't really want to get whatever you would call BRD-for-bows.  (Famous last words?)

Would this be a good bow?  Is this a good price?  Should I go back to the Craze?  Is there something else that's better for me (I realize there's a personal ergonomics element to this that can't be answered over the interwebs)?  Thanks.

Exactly! If you like it and shoot it well, who cares about what anyone else's opinion is. Before I went traditional the last compound I used was a 2008 Martin MOAB; not the biggest name out there but it felt good and worked for me and that was all I cared about.

Elite makes some really smooth shooting bows.

I've shot the Answer, Hunter, Energy 32 and Energy 35 from Elite.

I own the E32.  Fantastic bows.

Shoot it.  IF you like it, buy it.
