Many years ago I had a PSE Coyote take-down recurve that was a really good bow.  I loved the design, the quality and how well it performed but that was several years ago and since I've read some not so great reviews about the Coyote.  I've been thinking about getting back into archery, both traditional and modern.  Is there a take-down now that stands out among all the others as being the best ( under $400)?

Thanks

Nobody has an opinion on take-down recurves?  That is odd.

I know nothing about bows, other than my daughters have started shooting them, so I need to get one to shoot with them.

Researching a recurve to shoot with them and I think I have settled on a Samick Sage, probably 30 lb draw to start with, then will increase the weight when I get more proficient with it.

Samick Sage Page (with lots of reviews)

Just need to find a local archery shop to get set up with.

I just bought the Samick Sage about two weeks ago. It's my first bow ever, and I had literally zero archery experience before shooting it.

So far I really like it. It looks nice, and still works after shooting it a few hundred times. I have nothing to compare it to, but for 150$ it sure seems like a great bow to me.

I've gone from not being able to come to full draw (45 pound draw weight) and being a terrible shot, to keeping my arrows in a fairly tight group, of course I'm still shooting in my attic at about 10 yards, but it sure is fun learning how to shoot a bow.

I'm just like him. Know zero about bows & bought the Samick Sage. Haven't gotten it yet so no idea if I'll like it but I got it because I wanted a cheap reliable small easy to break down & transport setup. I only want to use it as a backup to firearms if I ever need it.

I bought a Samick Polaris, 62 inch with 25# draw.  Got one from local bow shop. Good, easy to shoot bow, and my wife can shoot it too.

Will shoot it for a bit and then upgrade to a Sage for me, wife will continue to shoot the Polaris.

Shot it last night from the back deck. first 2 shots were 2 inches apart from each other, right near the bull on the target. My daughters thought I was the king at that moment. "DAD!!! you're awesome!!!" ... I shall treasure that moment / memory for ever...

Subsequent shots were not as good... ;)

The best recurve I owned was a Bighorn Custom. I miss that bow.

Where did you get it, I am looking at that bow for my first and would like to get hands on. Thanks.
