How often should I wax the strings?  Is it purely a function of frequency of use, or should I pull my bow out of storage once or twice during the off season to wax the strings?

How do I go about doing it?  Light coating? Smear it in till it looks dry? Glom it on so it looks like a used q-tip? Go past the cams? What about the cables?

What exactly does the wax do for the strings anyway? Prevent moisture from soaking in or something?

The purpose of the wax is to keep the string from fuzzing up, so when it starts getting fuzzy, wax it.

I just rub the wax stick on the string to get some on it, then pinch the string between my thumb and index and start rubbing up and down on the string vigorously.  As you rub, the friction will warm the string/wax and it will work into the string and keep the fuzzies down.

Probably every 100 - 200 arrows, or as needed by the look of the string.  If you don't shoot it, no need to wax it.

I may be wrong, but that's the way I do it.

I wax frequently. your strings will deteriorate much faster without wax.

Every few hundred arrows or so and after every few times I go out hunting.  Without wax you will start seeing the string fray and that is not good.

I wax my string a lot during hunting season, mostly because its coming in contact with clothing more often and taking the wax off.  Otherwise, I wax it every few weeks.
