so one of my grandfathers friends gave me a bow and some arrows I have no clue what to do with this stuff .  I have been hunting my whole life with rifles but my odds of getting drawn here go up with archery so I might start putting in for it if I can get any good with this thing.   I don't know how old this is or how long it has been sitting or whatnot.

The fletchings are all fucked up .   are the shrink wrap ones any good?

does the string need to be replaced?  how the fuck do these sights work?

ect.

help

bow is a graphite PSE challenger

i shoot a PSE, they good bows.... it looks like it was set up for instictive shooting, has a kisser button between were they  notched the arrow... don't see no peep-sight on the string ta go with the pins...  lot of people use the shrinck wrap...  hing i'd be worried about tis the string.... had mine jump off were it anchers, tis what they call dry fire, checked the limb's out, didn't look like it hurt em, but after several hundred shots at target's an such, noticed one of the limb's had a fracture...

That bow is probably from the mid-late 80s.  Not a big deal.  It'll kill deer.  I shot several with a bow just like that back then.  Maybe go to archerytalk.com forums and read up.  Too late for you to start bowhunting this year, but next year will be great.  I don't even hunt with a firearm anymore.
Go to an archery pro shop, but don't buy everything they tell ya at first.  If it's a hunting setup, lose the flipper rest and kisser button, and put a whisker biscuit on there.  Best hunting rest there is for a beginner.  Get some carbon arrows, and a release (lotsa styles, personal preferance really, that's where the archery shop will help, you can try different ones.).  Read about broadhead tuning, so your hunting arrows will shoot with your practice tips.  Didn't see a rear peepsight on the string, but that'll help too.  All of this is pretty cheap.  Not sure if you have a stand, but a good treestand is probably more important than a good bow.
