Do they make a mag well for the older XD9 Service? I looked around and only saw the XDm listed. Andrew I don't have a clue. My first 3 gun pistol was a XDM 9 when they first came out. It was hard to find a plethora of after market parts for it so I switched to the M&P and had the same issues which lead me to the Glock 34. I think they all have a bunch of aftermarket stuff now but nothing gets close to the quantity of do dads you can find for glocks. Head over to the XD forums and ask around. |

Haven't put a magwell on it yet but I got everything else done and this gun shoot's awesome.
Did the Powder River Precisions trigger kit, +5 round mag extention, TruGlo TFO sights and polished the feedramp and most internal parts. Gun run's smooth and I can see it being a solid functioning firearm. I put it through some drills we use for law enforcement and it functioned flawlessly. It's surprising how accurate the gun is. Does anyone know of anything else that needs to be done? Andrew |

A bit more extreme as far as magwells go. http://www.pistolgear.com/proddetail.php?prod=00PG018 . When I started shooting IPSC my gun was a XD9 service. Its still one of my carry guns, so I will do some IPSC with it every now and then. It might be my 3 gun pistol for a little bit next year if I sell some stuff off to fund a 2011. Check out Pistolgear.com for tons of stuff. Obviously you've already scene springer precision as well. If you aren't on xdtalk.com they have some great people and info over there as well. Or they did. I haven't been there in quite a while. |

I just started 3gunning last April, and my XD9 service was the only suitable pistol in my inventory. While I love that gun, it became an anchor for me.
I picked up a gently used G34 last fall and spent the price of the gun again on upgrades. I expect to shoot it for the next few years. While I don't love it, it goes bang every time and holes appear where I mean them to. As stated above, lots of accessories available for it across a wide price point. |

Leanman- when you refer to your XD9 Service as being an 'anchor' as you referring then to it's weight? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question - I just don't have much familiarity with all of the more modern plastic, striker fired pistols. I do have an XD9sc and for it size- it does seem a bit on the heavy side. Been thinking about adding an XD9 Service though to complement it and also to give me a viable pistol option should I ever find the time to maybe one day try out 3 Gun. |
