I just picked up a Zev guide-rod for my G34 and need an un-captured spring for it. I'm remembering someone posting something about some options but I can't find that post now.

I run a heavy 17# ISMI spring in my gen 3 G34, with a stainless uncaptured guide rod... 147 handloads at about 935fps

I'll be shooting factory loads, mainly Freedom Munitions 124gr or 147gr. I'm thinking a Zev 12 lbs spring.

I run a 13# spring in my gen 3 34. That's with factory Hornady Steel Match 125 HAP load. Works great.

For 147 I run a 13lb IMSI

Some say the IMSI in underrated by 2 lbs or so

Supposedly the Wolff are accurately rated.
I don't know.

Thought about trying a 11lb but just haven't got around to it.

Most of the guys I know that shoot 34s use a 13lb spring.  I bought one to try out and see nothing wrong with it.

13lb should be fine. I run a 14lb in my G22

I always ran 13lb ISMI springs in my Glocks. In fact I probably have a bunch if 13's and 15's in my tool box. PM me if you want to buy a few cheap.

Fun question that show's I don't know everything... Why do you choose or not choose a full length guide rod and uncaptured spring vs a captured spring? What is the benefit of one over the  other. I realized I switched to be cool without knowing the reason why I was switching.

Personally, I doubt that many people could tell a difference in a blind test with captured/uncaptured and even minor differences in weight.

I put a 13lb in mine after hearing how so many people do that and didn't feel anything obviously different.  I want to try a blind test for myself and see if I can tell while shooting.
