Hello guys, I am looking for an 18" barrel with a rifle length gas system. Most of these barrels seem to weigh about 40 ounces but I found a couple that weigh 32 ounces. I'm pretty sure that there would not be much difference in accuracy cold but what about when they heat up? Just how much will a group open up at 100 yards when some rounds have been fired through it? Even if I never compete in 3gun, I would like something very accurate for long range that shots soft with minimal weight. Would you go 40 or 32 ounce?

Also I want to be able to shoot 55g as well as 77g so theoretically a 1/8 twist rate would probably be better than 1/7 but does it make a difference real world? Thanks for any advice you can give.

What I use.

Light enough and accurate hot or cold and no POI shift.

Thanks for the reply. That would be considered a light weight barrel correct?

What kind of chambers do these barrels have?  I didn't see any info on their website.

I just built an upper with that barrel for 3gun
Surplus ammo has em for $229 with a free stripped upper

I run these.  They are accurate so I don't have to worry about shooting until the heat up.

I used this barrel for my last build. I have not had any issues with it heating up on a hot day just shooting and then moving to prone shooting, but I have done that only a couple of times this year with this barrel build. I don't think I got it hot enough, but had no problem shooting 5" circle targets at 100 yds. I wish I could tell you more, but the style of shooting that I do at the range doesn't call for 5 mag dumps and moving to a bench.
