| Do you have back up sights on your rifle? |
|
I run an Aimpoint, so the probability of needing BUIS is slim to none. Kelly uses the force, so whether or not his optic works in immaterial. I do have BUIS on my backup match/self defense rifle. If I need to use that rifle, I am already having a REALLY bad day, so I want all the insurance I can get.

I run the Dueck Defense Offset Irons. They are only zeroed out to 25 yards but I could hit stuff at farther dustances if i needed to. A regular set of BUIS are not needed in this sport. There is no time to remove your scope, flip them up etc.
If you could cowitness them with a red dot such as an eotech it might get you out of that rare dead battery on the clock situation but the money is probably better sepnt on ammo. |
| I actually only started this topic to generate some discussion, but I thought back up sights wouldn't be a bad idea on my rifle as I thought if someone broke their optics, they could at least continue to use their rifles through the rest of the match. Isn't it in the rules that you can't change your equipment? |

You can get permission from the match director to use another optic or rifle as long as its similar to what you were using and he determines it gives you no competative advantage. I usually bring back up guns to the match mostly for other shooters and I have loaned them out before. Pat |

Aimpoint on 556 for Tac Irons (haven't turned battery off in forever....I replace batteries with new when the tv remote batteries go dead....old aimpoint batteries go in tv remote)
Bushnell scope on 762 for Heavy Optics (cant imagine there would be room to use them) I DO keep BUIS on my home defense rifle and SBR......but for 3-gun, I dont. |
