We dump them hot, safety ON. Safety comes off and you are going home early!  However Glocks, M&P's and XDm's don't need to worry about this.

Every match I've ever been to say they need to be in a safe condition. Safe condition being described as either hot with safety engaged or totally empty.

Striker fired pistols being the exception due to no external safety on them and the internal safeties they have.

Different matches have different rules, make sure to check the match director for your match for any local regulations.

Just getting started in 3G. Shot two different clubs using Sig P226 (DA/SA, no safety) and have been told hot, hammer down is GTG.
