I am stuck at 1 to 1.18 second per shot. To explain we had the annual zombie shoot at New Holland (nhrpc.org). On the bank stage I shot a 26 and clean.

The stage was set up as: hands on an atm pistol loaded in holster turn/move shoot 3 rounds through window A at each of the 3 targets(9 rounds). Repeat at window B 1 yard away (9 rounds). Place clean weapon on table pick up shotgun. Shoot  2 targets twice.(4 rounds)

My gear was a standard glock 17 and a mossberg 500 w/bead sight. The only modification was a side saddle for the shotgun.

My speed was the same on other stages that I shot cleanly. Any advice appreciated.

ETA winners had a score in the teens.

Transitioning/moving from target to target faster will help your times more than faster splits will.

Shoot as fast as your sights allow you to shoot hits.

Shoot no faster than that...

you can't miss fast enough.

more trigger time will lower the speed.

Dry practice a TON

So you are saying it is taking you 1-1.8 seconds to fire a follow up shot?

If that's the case you need to work on recoil management and sight picture.

Look up the El Presidente and practice the shit out of that. Work to your failure point and study what you are doing and break each step down to see what/where it is that you can/need to practice. Lots of dry fire practice will help but rounds on paler will help the most.

Do some bill drills (draw or present firearm to target and fire six shots into A zone as fast as possible).  Don't be afraid to push it so you know where your boundaries are.

Don't go too fast, but when you see the sight picture that you need to see, SEND IT!

In the end to shoot fast, you are simply going to have to shoot A LOT.  You will learn what you need to see and what you can get away with as well as what you can't.  You will also learn timing and how to call shots quickly.  It will take a number of rounds down range to develop this skill.

Kelly knows his stuff.  You learn to shoot fast the same way you get to Carnegie Hall.

No.  And Rob Leatham fired the fastest bill drill that I every saw. I think he actually went back in time,
