I'm taking the lady hog hunting in 2 weeks and will be letting her use the 6.8 SPC, which she is comfortable with.

I'll be carrying a 16" Larue Stealth and may want to pop a few myself. I've never hog hunted with any of my 223 / 5.56 AR's. I've got Black Hills and FGMM 77 gr OTM, but other than that, just M193 and M855. Should the 77 gr work ok with proper shot placement, or is there something better? I've heard good things about Fusion 62 gr. too.

Help me decide.

I would have to say that the 62gr Fusion is probably the best choice out of the ones you put up there.

Any of the stuff you mentioned will work.  The Fusion or any of the monolithic bullets  like Barnes TSX or Hornady GMX etc will give you better results though.

I use fusions and plain old 55sp. Anything you named should be fine.

Fusion should work well but my choice is the CCI Got Dot 65gr just because I have a good stock of them.
Last hog I shot with Gold Dot was at the base of the head and it dropped on the spot.  I was impressed with damage and penetration.
It's currently the only .223/5.56 factory ammo I use for hog hunting.

I use mostly 77gr OTM's on deer these days and have killed a lot of hogs with it to.

Do you mean the 64 gr? I haven't seen 65. Just the 64 soft point.

77 gr. work just fine. 55 gr. soft points work fine just aim small miss small. Any of the monolith expanders should work fine. But I have never shot a pig with them. I have used 40 gr. Vmax  to 60 gr. Vmax. Use what your gun shoots best.

I'm a big fan on the Federal Fusion MSR.  It shoots about 1.25" MOA out of my AR and I have taken hogs with behind the ear shots and with heart/lung shots at 100 yards.

Look no further...62 grain fusion. I run it out of a 16 inch Larue Tobr. Have had extremely good luck on both pigs and deer.

If you're using the Sierra OTM, you should note that they specifically say it is a bad round for hunting.

I don't know what your twist rate is.  Barnes 55gr TSX kills well but is not all that accurate in my 1:7.  I am moving on to the Barnes 70gr when I get a chance.  I have not used the 62gr fusion but it gets great reviews on deer.

A pellet gun will work "with proper shot placement."

I shoot them in the head/neck with XM-193 out of a 16" barrel and it seems to work fine. Hornady 75 gr. BHTP's worked fine out of a 10.5" barrel.

I switched to 77 grain razor core ammo from IMI. You can get it from sgammo.  I am a fan but it may be 556, I never check because my guns can shoot both.  Very impressed with the damage output.

Better late than never. I popped a smaller (gilt) hog at 75 yards at night, head shot. Dead right there. The 77 gr Black Hills was the prescription. My fiancé took a nice one with the 6.8 and then next morning I smoked a boar at 150 yards with the 6.8 while it was walking head on. Took 2 to the head and 1 to the body to bring him down.
