7.62 x 39 is a perfectly serviceable round for hogs, no matter what is slinging it.

Mini 30s aren't the most accurate rifle in the world, but as long as you have a rifle that's putting bullets where you want them, it'll do. I've used an SKS for hunting hogs and deer without issues, and their close in accuracy to the mini 30.

Good round, don't care for the rifle.

My brother got one and I think he wasted his money that he should have spent on an AR platform. Finding a good AR in 7.62x39 is kinda hard though.

I have built them and use that round. I killed these with the 7.62x39. I have made 100 yd head shots on a few Boars.

Videos can be seen on my youtube channel.

I would not recommend that caliber in anything but the AR15. With Russian ammo, I am getting 1 to 1.5moa consistently.

I use ASC mags, and rarely have any issues.

You will need a modified firing pin and heavy factory hammer springs if you shoot imported ammo. So, a match trigger is not in the cards.

My wife's hogging rifle is a Mini-30 and she has been able to drop some boars and even one black buck out to about 100 yards.  We put decent glass on the rifle and it has worked out fairly well.

It is one of the ranch rifles that has the stainless barrels and the synthetic stock.

ETA: Also quality ammo is a must.

The X39 round is a great hog round. Myself, I use a Saiga x39 most of the time while hog hunting. Nothing wrong with a Mini 30 as a hog rifle at all- compact, light weight, accurate enough, good scope mounting options, cheap ammo, adequate power.....

I have used my mini 30 for about 10 years and it works great on hogs. Only problem is some no fires with Russian primers and steel cased ammo. Plenty accurate though.

It is mainly for when we hunt in TX but I keep hearing that there are some feral hog up North of San Pedro River Valley, East of Tucson.  I have to get out there some weekend and see if I can't track them down.
