I just talked to a proprty owner. 1000 acres of orange groves.
I want to be able to ask permission so that I cant hunt some Hogs.
He said that he would, but first he wants to meet to see what kind of person I am.
Thats cool I dont mind I dont have nothing to hide Im a nice guy.
Is there anything I should tell this guy so that I increase my chances of getting his permission?

Just be yourself and let him know you respect the fact that he owns the land

That you won't bring anymore than 1 person with you when you hunt on his property and that you will clean up any brass, trash, any traces of you being there. Be respectful of his land and you will enjoy a good relationship.

Yeah that's very true.
I hope to make friends with the guy and hopefully be able to take someone with me to hunt those hog cause I seen some giant tracks on the edge of the road.

Yeah I've seen more than a few people lose their hunting rights for bringing multiple people to an area and then have their buddies show up whenever without the original hunter the home owner authorized. As long as you are respectful to the property owner's wishes you shouldn't have any problems. Also offering to lend a hand during harvest times or around the farm/an extra set of hands can lend to a long friendship.

also give him some sausage, pork chops, ham or bacon from the hogs that you harvest as a sign of thanks and good will.

Im willing to work for the previlage, yeah I also have seen people screw things up by shooting off there guns at random the property and making a mess by cutting down trees for fire wood.
Im going to ask I can do to help out.

You should give up and not go meet him. Tell me where it is and I will go for you just in case he doesn't like you, lol.

Good luck and good hunting.

It goes without say but leave the BDU's and the "guns dont kill people" shirts at home. Dress clean and neat but in clothes you could work on your house in (jeans/shirt). If you appear as a gun "fanatic" in MAY scare him off. Also if you have any other private land you hunt on see if they will give you e referance. Often landowners in an area know eachother and this would quickly put his mind at ease.
