I am going on a hog hunt in a month and am going to use my AR-10. I wanted to get some insight from the experianced pig killers on what would be the best .308 load to use for these animals - penetration and expansion are my concerns. The place we are hunting has European boars that average 250 - 300+ lbs. This will be my first boar hunt, so I want to make sure that I am properly prepared. Thanks guys!!

I used soft point reloads from cabelas(ultramax). Dropped 4 in one shot each, only one ran about 50 yards. I also use the federal power shock I think it is, its the one in the blue/grey box that isnt too expensive. Pretty much just use what shoots the best in your rifle. The pigs I shot were all over 200lbs except for one, she was about 180 or so. Good luck and have fun!

I love the AMAX, but it frags into the meat, but I hate the ribs anyway
