What kind of setup do you guys use when calling coyotes in the woods? I live in Alabama and my hunting areas are mostly wooded.

I think your hunting tactics will matter the most. You need them in range without seeing you or smelling you. Seems tree stands aren't as popular for coyotes as for deer ... I'm no expert though. You see them before they see you within 50 yards, a single shot .22LR with iron sights would do fine. Also hunting isn't just about getting a kill ... I like muzzleloader season for deer, but obviously a muzzleloader with iron sights is going to limit you ... but doesn't that make it fun?

If they were pests on my land, I'd use a 12ga with a red dot and use 3in #4 plated buck for within 40 yards I suppose, or one of those specialty BB coyote loads.

I have no answers but these guys hunt in woods a lot and kill a bunch of coyotes.
