I'm tired of this fat squirrel parking his ass on my deck railing and gorging himself on the seed in my birdfeeder. I have a rat trap, a duke 110, and snare wire. What is going to be the easiest way to get him?

If you can get a pipe big enough to fit the 110 in when set, cut a rectangular slit out for the spring and seal the other end if pipe. Put some corn and peanut butter in there and set the trap.

When I was in high school we had a squirrel problem at my house, I did what I described above but put a 110 on each side.  Some days I had 2 squirrels!

Stabilize the 110 on top of a pole leaning against your bird feeder post or tree. Use three or four nails inside the set trap so it fires away from them. Put a bit of brush on top of the trap so the squirrel will go through it instead of jumping over it. Simmer the squirrel until the meat comes off the bones. Brown in butter. Serve on toast.

Will rat traps consistently kill them?

No they will not. I tried rat traps around my Mango tree last year and the damn squirels set them off at least 5 times a day but never killed a single one.

LOL, don't always kill the squirrels, but ALWAYS kill the woodpeckers.
Hard to beat the 110 set up as mentioned above.

Every homeowner these days should own a live trap.  They're less than $40 for two at tractor supply.

They're simple to use, work almost every time, and you don't have legal hassles or hassles with neighbors or wives.

I have a few of the little ones (2 1/2" I think). I lay them over chipmunk holes. A jihad against chipmunks is the only way I can harvest anything from our garden or orchard.

That's what I have used many years ago.  Worked just fine.
