So after many months of wanting to get into trapping, I finally have.  I got with a buddy and went down to a local WMA and found a honey hole for beavers.  We only leave our traps out two or three days at a time to ensure the beaver dont get trap shy and to keep people from seeing them.  We have had the traps out for about 6-8 days and have had AWESOME success.  We have caught 6 beavers, two small kits, and two mature 60lb adults.  I have also started setting a few traps out for coon and have had coons ever day!!  Trapping season opens up fully here on the 16th so I am going to try to get all I can while I can.  If yall have any suggestions on what I should try let me know.

P.S. Trapping is much more exciting than I could have ever imagined

Congratulations! Trapping is very rewarding. Are you trying for any canines?

I would like to see pictures of your sets and maybe the animals you have caught.

Welcome to the club.  WARNING, trapping is addicting!  For "simple" you should consider mink and muskrats.  Jumping right in with beaver is pretty overwhelming.  BTDT

I havent taken any pictures yet, but I am putting my traps along a branch of a small river here.  They have been right beside the water because on the other side of the levy in the woods there is some good sign, but its all sand and i havent gotten the right stuff to be able to put the traps in the sand.  If yall have any ideas it would be awesome.  I had some good luck at first but havent had any more luck.

What should I use to bait my traps? I have been using dog food mixed with mackeral from walmart.  Under the trigger i have a marshmellow, but recently have had the dog food missing out of the trap but the marshmellow is still there and hasnt gone off.  Any suggestions?

What kind of traps are you using and what specifically does the location look like?  Are you using dog proof type coon traps?
